NURTURING CHILDREN'S LIFELONG LOVE FOR LEARNING
At Our Kids Early Learning Centre, our main vision is to empower children’s sense of self and foster their ability to direct their own learning in a nurturing, open, autonomous, and child-centered environment.
The inside spaces of our Mataki Way childcare centre are thoughtfully designed to cultivate children’s curiosity and comfort in a respectful and homely environment. Careful considerations have been given to the aesthetics and natural elements to help instill a sense of belonging. The centre features a stunning outdoor area, with a strong focus on the natural setting where children will be encouraged to explore, learn, and grow in an environment that is both engaging and challenging.
At Our Kids Early Learning Centre, we have a vision of a childcare environment that cultivates mental, physical, and personal growth in children. We’re excited that our Mataki Way childcare centre is now open and we love that we can share our vision with the local community.

ON-SITE COOK CATERING FOR ALL DIETS
Our resident cook provides morning, lunch, and afternoon food breaks, taking into consideration all nutritional guidelines and any special dietary requirements such as allergies. Our Kids teachers encourage positive attitudes in children to support healthy food choices. We have created a four-week cycle menu in collaboration with families and in tandem with the NZ Heart Foundation’s nutrition guidelines.

MATAKI WAY STAFF

Brooke MacClure
Centre Manager, Our Kids Mataki Way
Kia Ora, my name is Brooke and I am the Centre Manager for Our Kids Mataki Way.
I have been working in Early Childhood since 2007. I hold a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (ECE), alongside a Postgraduate Diploma in Early Intervention. I have worked in a range of settings in the early childhood sector. I started my career working in Daycare, then as a Visiting Teacher and Manager in the Home Based Sector and more recently Kindergarten.
I teach from the heart and give 100% in all that I do. I believe that when our tamariki, fellow Kaiako and whanau are treated with kindness and compassion meaningful relationships develop. The strength of these relationships ground us in a space that enables us to explore, to fly and let our true selves shine. I am committed to my role leading our wonderful team of passionate early childhood educators and working in a collaborative space to promote rich and meaningful learning opportunities for our tamariki.

Sarah Barry
2IC
Hi, I’m Sarah and I joined the Our Kids family in September 2019. I hold a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and I have been teaching for the last 12 years.
My passion is to foster a calm, relaxing environment in order to create opportunities for children to explore freely. I am influenced by the works of Emmi Pikler and Madga Gerber, and I teach with a respectful approach to care and education which forms the basis of my teaching philosophy. I am constantly learning from the children by slowing down, observing the children and seeing them for who they are in order to build trusting, authentic relationships. Building strong relationships with tamariki, family and whanau is imperative and underpins all my work.
Outside of work I am a mother of 3 Children Olivia 16, Liam 12 and Mila 8. I am proud to be part of the teaching team here in the Glen Haven room where respect, patience and love are valued and encouraged.
