GLEN EDEN DAYCARE
The Glen Eden centre is centrally located and children have easy access to community resources. The centre has a newly furnished outdoor area providing plenty of challenges and opportunities for children to explore including a beautiful stream with a pump that runs off rain water, sensory herbs and landscaped planting, a beautiful stained glass fence window for children to look outside, and a deck area for use in the wet weather. The outdoor area is huge with a large sandpit, plenty of outdoor equipment for physical activities, and a long spiraling ramp for wheeled activities. Children’s artwork, their photos, plants and mirrors, are used to decorate the interior of the centre to create a homely and aesthetically pleasing environment.
QUALITY EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Our Kids is a small and homely all-day mixed aged centre providing quality care and education for children aged between 6 months and 5 years. Our teachers create respectful and caring relationships with the children while maintaining close relationships with their family/whānau. The centre has been renovated with new facilities, and is continuously well resourced.
Gardening and nature is an important part of our centre culture. The children are very involved in all processes of gardening and learning about nature. Teachers take children on nature walk experiences and for visits to the local garden and orchard. The teachers and children are often seen out and about in our local community as we frequently visit the library and shops. We feel it is important for children to be part of their community and learn about real-life experiences of their environment.
ON-SITE COOK CATERING FOR ALL DIETS
Our resident cook provides for morning, lunch and afternoon food breaks taking into consideration nutritional guidelines, and any special dietary requirements such as allergies. Our Kids teachers encourage positive attitudes in children to support healthy food choices and have created a four week cycle menu in collaboration with families and in-sync with the NZ Heart Foundation’s guidelines.
INTRODUCING... OUR KIDS GLEN EDEN
I have had a wonderful experience with the team at Our Kids Glen Eden. The first time I walked in the facility I felt such a welcoming, home-like feel, which I thought makes the perfect environment for my little one. The teachers have all been magnificent! They made me feel so comfortable when transitioning my daughter into their care. They are so considerate and accommodating. They keep me well informed and we have open conversations. The teachers at Our Kids Glen Eden genuinely want what is best for you and your tamariki. GLEN EDEN STAFF
Centre Manager Our Kids Glen Eden
Kia ora, my name is Kate and I am the manager at Our Kids Glen Eden. I have been working with the wonderful Our Kids team since 2019 but have 15 years experience in the early childhood sector. I hold a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education.
I have a calm and caring approach towards tamariki, and building whānaungatanga/relationships with whānau and tamariki is extremely important to me. I have a deep respect for our people of the future and nurture children with aroha and patience so they feel secure enough to blossom and develop into strong capable learners.
After having my own child in 2017, my passion and commitment to the early years has deepened even further which makes me relate and understand the beautiful and sometimes challenging parts of parenting. I am dedicated to helping young tamariki grow emotional, social and developmental skills to promote their overall well-being.
I lead our Kaiako with a kind and understanding approach and believe the well-being of our teachers is extremely important so they feel supported to give our tamariki their full potential.
Here at Our Kids Glen Eden, our team is passionate and works well together to ensure that we have an understanding and respect of Te Ao Māori and te taiao the environment. This is something I continue to be inspired and learn more about.
